How it works

01

Choose the moment first

A five-question table round can fit between courses; a 15-question couple quiz works after dinner; an all-about-the-bride format belongs at the hen party, not necessarily the reception.

  • Agree the slot with the MC or venue
  • Prepare a shorter version if the schedule slips
02

Balance who can answer

Use personal questions for memorable reveals, then add photographs, music, estimates or general wedding-friendly questions for newer friends and plus-ones.

  • Use teams for mixed knowledge
  • Avoid a whole round from one friendship group
03

Write for the reveal

A good question has a plausible clue and a short story after the answer. Confirm facts, accepted spellings and photo context before the day.

  • Remove private or embarrassing material
  • Give the host one concise answer note

A dependable 15-question wedding quiz

Open with three easy couple questions, add five visual or music questions, use four Who Said It or What Would They Choose prompts, then finish with a three-question story or timeline round.

8 wedding quiz formats and when to use them

  1. 01

How well do you know the couple?

Questions about how they met, shared habits and recognisable milestones. Add clues so the game is not reserved for the oldest friends. Create the couple quiz.

  2. 02

    Who said it?

Ask both partners the same questions beforehand and let guests match each answer to the person.

  3. 03

    Couple photo timeline

Put holidays, homes and milestones in chronological order. It works across ages and creates a natural story reveal.

  4. 04

    Mr & Mrs style quiz

The couple answer the same “who is more likely” questions. Keep the prompts affectionate and avoid disputes the room does not understand.

  5. 05

    Bride or groom round

Focus on one person’s favourites, history and choices. Invite family and several friendship groups so the material is not one-note.

    Hen or stag party10–15 minPersonal
  6. 06

    Wedding picture round

Use famous couples, films, album covers or visual clues. It gives plus-ones and newer friends a fair route into the score.

    Between courses10 minInclusive
  7. 07

    Music from their story

Play short clips linked to trips, eras or shared memories, while scoring artist and title as well as the personal connection.

    Reception10–15 minAudio
  8. 08

    Guest versus couple

Tables predict the couple’s answers to future choices, then the couple reveal what they chose. Use four or five quick prompts, not a long interview.

Common questions

How long should a wedding quiz last?

At a reception, 10–25 minutes is a useful target. A hen party or dedicated quiz night can run longer, but protect time for dinner, speeches and conversation.

How many questions do we need?

Ten questions make a compact game; 15–20 make a fuller table quiz. Count photo, music and timeline items individually and allow extra time for personal reveals.

What questions should we avoid?

Leave out ex-partners, private conflicts, money, fertility, humiliating stories and anything the couple has not agreed can be shared.

Should guests play individually or in teams?

Teams usually work better at a wedding because different guests know different chapters of the couple’s story. Tables are convenient; deliberately mixed teams are fairest.
